By Charles E. Buban Philippine Daily Inquirer March 11,2020

Inquirer Motoring recognizes that buying a new vehicle is a major decision. For most people, a new vehicle is the second most expensive item they will ever buy, aside from their home. Tens of thousands or even millions of pesos are usually at stake, not to mention the buyers’ long-term happiness with the purchase.

That’s why it is important to get your choice of a new vehicle right, and to make smart decisions during the entire selection and purchase process. Establish your budget. Determine what vehicle make do you need. Once you know which types of vehicles will satisfy your needs given the budget and financial standing, it is time to decide what you care most about the new vehicle you are about to own—the brand’s image, styling, reliability, safety record, technology, conveniences/ comforts offered, ownership cost, and of course, customer feedback (service record) of the dealers you are considering.

For the fifth installment of our Buyer’s Guide series, Inquirer Motoring lists Executive Rides— amazing cars to drive or be driven in like a boss. While utmost care is taken in supplying accurate data, this listing should serve only as a guide as information, including pricing, are subject to change without prior notice. A price quote may be supplied by the relevant dealer upon request.

And one more thing: Never underestimate the importance of booking a test drive and trying your hand at driving the vehicle, no matter how short the distance. Basically, you should feel the car when you test drive; check the comfort, the ergonomics and the smoothness of use. Listen to the sound of the car when it is on the road. Check for any unusual sounds or rattling noises. Don’t forget to check the cargo area and gauge whether it has enough space for you or your family’s needs. Check out the gadgets and devices.

Since buying a new vehicle is a big ticket investment, it is important that as a buyer, you must get it right this time.
