Jaguar Philippines introduces the all-electric I-Pace, the brand’s first foray in the EV market. Jaguar calls it the brand’s Smartest Five-Seater Sports Car. Its intelligent power and charging management system takes a leap forward towards revolutionary design and technology. The I-Pace was unveiled last July 7th together with the Land Rover PH unveil of the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport Plug-In Hybrid Vehicle (PHEV) models.
Just like other high performance electric vehicles, the I-Pace is very responsive and delivers power instantaneously, using 97% of its power driving to the wheels unlike its internal combustion engine counterparts, that only delivers about 75% of the engine’s output to drive its wheels. Its highly efficient powertrain produces 400 PS of power and 696 Nm of torque, and is capable of accelerating from zero to 100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds and does it without releasing emissions. It is also capable of regenerative braking which allows it to harness energy during deceleration.
It has an almost perfect 50/50 front and rear weight distribution and also has a low center of gravity because of its battery location. Its batteries are placed on the floor area in between the car’s two axles so weight is evenly distributed, giving it excellent road handling and power is driven by two powerful electric motors to all the wheels that releases power according to the road conditions to achieve maximum grip.
Its smart charging and power management system makes sure the charging of the vehicle is efficient and the system ensures that the battery and cabin temperature is optimized to handle maximum charging efficiency. The I-Pace uses a 90-kW lithium ion high-voltage battery and charging from zero to full would take 12 hours and 48 minutes using the bundled 7-kW charger, which is ideal for home charging. According to Jaguar PH, the I-Pace units inbound to Manila will be future-proof and will be equipped with the latest upgrades. It will also sport an 11-kW on-board charger to allow faster charging in the future and the new Pivi Pro infotainment system, which is created to be as intuitive and easy to use as a smartphone.
Every I-Pace unit sold here comes with a Type 2 Plug 7 kW wall charger. Installation costs are not -included, since cost may vary per household. The I-Pace comes with an eight-year, 160,000-kilometer, 70 percent health state warranty. Price of the I-Pace is at Php 7,590,000. An additional charger costs Php 105,000 (installation not included).
