SEMA 2010: Pimping the Lexus Hybrids (Plus Pimped up Prius)

November 03,2010

Hybrids may not be the first candidates to come to mind when pimping up vehicles, but they’re what make Toyota and Lexus unique. With that, Lexus has brought a fleet of modified hybrid vehicles to the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas.

First is the CT 200h, decked out with 18-inch alloy wheels with Pirelli PZero Nero 225/40R18 tires and 12” cross-drilled brakes. For the GS 450h, 0-60 Magazine has fitted s a carbon body kit with huge rear wing, GReddy performance titanium racing exhaust, racing dampers and springs from TEIN USA, Brembo Gran Tursimo brakes and Rays Engineering Wheels. VIP Auto Saloon’s LS has a customized interior, customized air suspension, and 21-inch polished black wheels. The RX 450 h, Lexus’ best-selling model, uses 21-inch wheels and a wide-body conversion kit.

Our personal favorite is Fox Marketing’s Lexus LS 600 h L, called SEMA’s “greenest limousine by far,” including literally, with its Glacier Green paintwork. The lowered car rides on Rotiform concave 20-inch wheels with candy copper finish. If they ever make a “Black Rain 2”, the ground-hugging limousine looks all set to go the bad guy’s car.

Not to be left behind, Toyota UK has also pimped up the Prius for a special anniversary. Called Prius X, as it marks the car’s 10th year in the UK, the car features relatively tame upgrades, including 17-inch smoked-finish alloys, dark-tinted privacy glass, leather upholstery, and a special paint job.
