Watch Your Car Files: Jaeger-LeCoultre Amvox2 DB9

November 08,2010

Of all the car-themed watches, the coolest is the one that can actually interact with your car. In the world of high-end Swiss watches, only one comes to mind: the Jaeger-LeCoultre (how do you even pronounce that?!) Amvox Transponder. Jaeger has released a new version, the Amvox2 DB9.

The Amvox2 DB9 is designed to lock/unlock the car by means of pressing on the watch’s crystal. Pressing between 8 and 9 o’clock unlocks the Aston Martin DB9, while a press between 3 and 4 o’clock locks it. If you can’t find your car in the basement of the Four Seasons, pressing both activates the “Find Me” feature: the headlamps will flash. The Amvox2 DB9 uses a titanium case with grille-type motif. A DB9 logo “appears to be floating in the center in a window revealing the ruthenium mainplate and bridges.” Price is a mere US$24,000 (PHP1.02 million), Aston Martin not included. The watch is gorgeous enough to warrant owning one, even if one doesn’t have a DB9–well, almost enough.
