Ford is set to campaign the all-new 2011 Ford Focus in global motorsports activities by providing technical support to private race teams. The first foray will be in next year’s British Touring Car Championship. Next will be the China Touring Car Championship (Who would have thought this possible just ten years ago?), and the 24-hour Nurburgring challenge. The basis will of course be the new production car, including its direct-injection two-liter gasoline engine, and Ford’s twin-clutch PowerShift gearbox. The move was announced at the recent SEMA show.
So it seems that the Chevy Cruze won’t be the only American rubbing fenders with BMWs and Audis on racetracks next year.
It should be only a matter of time before the likes of Tuason Racing will be running these hard on Philippine tracks.
