How to spend your Lotto winnings, part 2: all-new Audi A6

December 07,2010

Ok, so you only won the 6/45 lotto and not the 6/55. That’s still a huge load of money, and you will need some decent transportation for your newfound bucks. You can’t go much wrong with the all-new Audi A6, which will arrive next year.

The new car will have a chassis combining aluminum and steel to bring down the car’s kerb weight. The large-ish sedan, coming in at 4920mm long, 1870mm wide and 1460mm tall will check in at just 1575kg, about 15% less than an all-steel equivalent.

Audi’s sleek design language is very much in evidence, leading to a smooth profile and a drag coefficient of just 0.26 Cd. The trademark LED running lights underline the front headlamps, of course; headlamps themselves are also LED.

Engine choices will be a 2.0 liter turbo good for 175 bhp, and, paired with a manual gearbox, good for 0-100km/h in 8.7 seconds and capable of 20 km/liter. Then there are the diesels, in 2.0 (also 175 bhp) and 3.0 (in 202 bhp, 242 bhp or 297 bhp trim). Other transmissions will be CVT for front-wheel drive cars, and the dual-clutch S tronic for quattro all-wheel drive models. Start-stop engine control is available on some models.

The interior reportedly features the impeccable materials and layout that Audi has made its trademark. The MMI interface will have a handwriting recognition option, and can access Google Earth data for weather and navigation. Infrared night vision, cooled seats and a 15-speaker 1200-watt Bang & Olufsen audio system will be in the options list.
