Chevrolet USA is convinced that its all-new next-generation Aveo is so radically different from its predecessor that a name change is in order. The new name is: Sonic. It is supposed to convey a “youthful, energetic” image for the “roomy, stylish, and fun to drive” car. Here are more photos and info on the new Sonic/Aveo.
The new car will be assembled at GM’s Orion Assembly center in Michigan, which will be upgraded to the tune of $545 million (An IPO is a nice thing to have) and which will help restore 1000 jobs to the metropolitan Detroit area.
The Sonic badge (bright blue paint job with spikes optional) will be applied to the US, Mexico, and Canada markets. The Aveo name will continue in the rest of the world. Our unsolicited opinion? Change the name!
