Your electric fan probably has it; why can’t your car? We’re talking about that “lifetime warranty” that covers parts and labor for your appliance. Now Vauxhall (GM/Opel’s UK brand) is introducing a lifetime warranty for all its cars registered from 1 August 2010. The warranty covers all major components including powertrain, steering, brakes, and electrical system throughout the life of the vehicle—defined as 160,000km. Regular maintenance and a free annual inspection are required for the program.
We hope that other carmakers will soon follow suit. Currently, the longest warranty in the Philippines is that of Hyundai, at 5 years/100,000km.
