Watch Your Car Files: Parmigiani Bugatti 372

August 17,2010

So you’ve just bought yourself a Bugatti Super Sport, the world’s fastest production car. What can you do to celebrate? How about buying a watch that matches your new toy?

Parmigiani Fleurier , a Swiss luxury watch manufacturer, has introduced its Calibre Bugatti PF 372, a timepiece that displays time on two different planes. One is the face that ordinary people are used to, the other is a vertical plane that, when the driver’s hands are on the steering wheel, is pointed toward him for easy reading. After all, glancing away from the road at 430km/h can be tricky.

The system is made possible by a system of double pinions with bevel gearing. The manually-wound Bugatti PF 372 has a power reserve of 10 days. Other similarities to its namesake car include a carbon fiber dial and lugs shaped similar to car’s profile. The watch is the successor to the Bugatti 370, of which 150 pieces will be made each year. Each will reportedly cost $200,000.
