Feeling left out of the entire V-Power/Blaze/Extreme97 premium fuel market because you’re driving a diesel? Not to worry: Shell Philippines has now launched V-Power diesel, a high-performance version of its diesel fuel.
Shell V-Power Diesel reportedly cleans modern fuel injection system and removes deposit build up. The fuel was first launched in Italy in 2002 and is available in 24 countries. The fuel was an integral part of Audi’s Le Mans efforts, powering the Audio R10 TDi to victory in from 2006 to 2008, and again in 2010. V-Power Diesel retails at about P2.00 more than the regular diesel fuel.
Here’s a basic Q&A with Shell on V-Power diesel:
1. Is V-Power diesel suitable for all diesel engines?
Yes, all diesel engines, whether new or old, small or big, can benefit from the performance of Shell V-Power Diesel.
2. Does it contain any biofuel?
Yes. This contains 2% CME (Cocony Methyl Ester) – as mandated by the Philippine government.
3. Does it have the same formulation as Shell V-Power Diesel being sold in other countries?
Shell V-Power Diesel is a performance fuel that is specifically adapted to the markets, where it is sold. This included consideration of vehicle fleet and national fuels specification.
4. Is it a low-sulfur diesel?
Yes, Shell V-Power Diesel is considered as a low sulfur fuel in the general definition of low sulfur being less than 500ppm.
5. How will it help vehicles meet new emissions standards, say Euro III or newer standards?
Shell V-Power Diesel complies with the Philippines national fuel specification that required compatibility with vehicles of Euro2 emission standard.
6. Why is it more expensive that the regular diesel fuel?
In every country where Shell operates, we strive to provide a consistent supply of competitively priced fuel and help our customers get the most out of every drop. Shell V-Power Diesel being a superior product contains specifically developed performance components that are more expensive to manufacture –consequently will be sold at a premium. Shell V-Power Diesel is designed to deliver improved performance in return, whatever car you drive.
So it seems that carmakers will no longer be able to trot out the response “we don’t have suitable fuel in the Philippines” when asked about their latest diesel models. Audi R8 TDi V12, anyone?
Probably not coincidentally, Petron has also launched a new premium diesel fuel called Turbo Diesel (not be confused with the engine type). We intend to try out both in the next few weeks.
