Four-seat Ferraris are arguably the ultimate GTs, a way for four very fortunate individuals to experience the thrills of riding the Prancing Horse. Now Ferrari has shown photos of its latest four-seater, and—it has four-wheel drive. The Ferrari FF (four seats and four-wheel drive) “can comfortably accommodate four people and their luggage,” with 450 liters of trunk space.
The four-wheel drive system reportedly weighs 50 percent less than a conventional one and allows a 47/53 front/rear weight distribution. The system adjusts torque distribution to all four wheels in tandem with the electronic dynamic control systems. Carbon-ceramic brakes are at all four corners, as well as the magnetorheological damping system, which quickly and continually adjusts the firmness of the dampers, first seen on the Ferrari 599 GTB.
It wouldn’t be a Ferrari without an exceptional engine. Up front is a 6.2-liter V12 with direct injection. Power is 660 bhp at 8000 rpm and torque is 683 Nm. Acceleration is stunning, hitting the 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds. A dual-clutch F1 transmission takes care of the shifting.
All par for the course, you might think. The most shocking aspect of the FF is the shooting-brake configuration–this is the “Ferrari station wagon” that was confirmed recently by Ferrari boss Luca di Montezemolo. The Pininfarina design, particularly the profile, is definitely something that has not been seen on a Ferrari that isn’t sitting in garage in Brunei. Its gives us flashbacks of the BMW Z3 M Coupe, which is not a good thing. One thing is for sure: this is a very fast wagon, with a top speed is a time-warping 335 km/h. You can’t argue with that.
