CATS launches new E-Class sedan

By Jason K. Ang July 15,2013

CATS Motors, exclusive importer for Mercedes-Benz in the Philippines, has launched the new E-Class sedan. What a difference the new design makes. Essentially a heavy facelift of the previous model, the 2013 E-Class has practically all-new front and rear ends, making the car quite an eye catcher, this time for all the right reasons. On the Avantgarde variants, a prominent tri-star emblem is mounted on the front grille, borrowing the look of current sporty Mercedes. A single headlamp lens on each side replaces the previous four square eyes of the previous model.

The interior has also been heavily revamped and improved, making the cabin a luxurious cocoon that nevertheless encourages enthusiastic driving. A new feature is the two-part trim which stretches across the entire dashboard. It can be selected in a wood or aluminum look, irrespective of the equipment line. Also new is the design of the air vents as well as an analogue clock between the two central air vents.
The harmonious interior is characterized by the redesigned center console without selector lever, as well as a new multifunction steering wheel with direct select lever and shift paddles in conjunction with automatic transmission.A new camera system enables the car to show a 3D view of the area up to around 50 meters in front of the vehicle.

The new gasoline engines feature spray-guided direct injection, quick multi-spark ignition, turbocharging, fully variable camshaft adjustment on both inlet and exhaust sides, and switchable water pump. The E200 has a 2.0-liter turbo inline-four, with 184hp and 300Nm, the E250 has the 2.0 turbo with more power and torque, at 211hp and 350Nm, while the E300 has naturally-aspirated 3.5 liter V6 with 252hp and 340Nm. The seven-speed G-Tronic transmission is standard.
