There was a memorable BMW print ad that said something like: “Whoever thought that Bond could be faithful to just one?” while showing photos of its three (car) models for the relevant film. That will be proven true once again, as in a new James Bond novel, the British superspy goes back to his first love, Bentley.
In the new book called Carte Blanche, penned by Jeffery Deaver, Bond drives a Continental GT. One of the settings is modern-day Dubai, where the conspicuous coupe with its 6.0-liter W12 should feel right at home.
Mr. Deaver, author of The Bone Collector, explains the books’ title: “In the world of espionage, giving an agent carte blanche on a mission comes with an enormous amount of trust and constantly tests both personal and professional judgment. Part of the nonstop suspense in the novel is the looming question of what is acceptable in matters of national and international security. Are there lines that even James Bond should not cross?”
The book will be published in May; check out the author’s photos in the classic Sean Connery pose.
