Hyundai unveils All-New Elantra at 7th Manila International Auto Show

April 09,2011

World Trade Center Manila, April 7, 2011––Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI), the official distributor of Hyundai in the country and the 3rd top-ranking automotive brand in the industry, today unveils the All-New Elantra during the Hyundai Press Presentation, attended by His Excellency Lee Hye-Min, Ambassador of the Republic of South Korea to the Philippines, representatives of the Asia & Pacific Regional Headquarters of Hyundai Motor Company (HMC), HARI VIPs, media delegates, and over 1,000 guests. The event also launches Hyundai’s newest television advertisement entitled “Link,” in line with its “New Thinking. New Possibilities.” brand slogan.

Making its Philippine premiere at the annual auto show, the fifth generation Elantra reveals its “wind craft” bodyline derived from Hyundai’s Fluidic SculptureTM design philosophy. The aerodynamic compact not only features seamlessly embellished add-ons such as the Halogen Headlights and Glass-Printed Antennae, but also significantly improves performance and fuel economy by reducing drag.

Hyundai’s newest “Link” TVC engages the motoring public to its new campaigns and brand initiatives to promote its new brand slogan, New Thinking. New Possibilities, and opens up HARI’s wing-inspired, 700-sq. meter exhibit at the auto show complementing the all-new Elantra’s gliding design. This new TV ad also expresses Hyundai’s pursuit of environmental leadership.

An inspiring keynote address from Ms. Fe Perez-Agudo, President and CEO of HARI follows, expressing the distributor and its 36-strong dealer network’s unity with HMC’s vision and brand-building efforts to bring the Philippine motoring community to new heights with new innovations and customer-driven campaigns.

Complimenting this warm welcome is the soul-stirring music and dance ensemble of world-class artists: classical crossover singer/multi-awarded soprano Ms. Fame Flores; internationally-acclaimed University of Santo Tomas Singers; professional dance group Airdance Philippines; with the symphonic music from the FILharmoniKa, conducted by maestro Gerard Salonga.

Aside from the Korean Ambassador, present to witness Hyundai’s Press Presentation are top delegates from HMC: Mr. Hoo-Keun Kim, Head of HMC, Asia & Pacific Regional Headquarters, and Mr. Jin-Young Park, General Manager for Marketing & Product Planning; and the contingent of forward-looking HARI VIPs led by Mr. Richard L. Lee, Chairman Emeritus, Mr. Edward S. Go, Chairman, Mr. Conrad G. Marty, Vice Chairman, and Ms. Fe Perez-Agudo, President and CEO.

Aside from the new Elantra and “Link” TVC, HARI also showcases its long lineup of best-of-breed innovations, from the award-winning Sonata luxury sedan, Tucson SUV, and the all-new Accent, all three nominated for the 2011 Car of the Year Awards; the Santa Fe CUV, Grand Starex and Grand Starex Limousine passenger vans; the i10 compact; and the Genesis Coupe performance car.

Further amplifying HARI’s new automobile lineup is a virtual display of the latest concept design by Hyundai California Design Center in Irvine, the Hyundai CURB Compact Crossover Utility Vehicle, on the expansive high-def LED screen, seamlessly embellished on the exhibit wall. Codenamed HCD-12, the CURB employs Hyundai’s innovative Blue LinkTM and Vehicle Connectivity Technology that allow for internet access and GPS while driving.
