BMW’s Active Outdoor Tourer is built to take on an adventurous lifestyle
The Germans love the great outdoors, so much so that they have an expo called the OutDoor Friedrichshafen fair. BMW created a concept vehicle called the Concept Active Tourer Outdoor that is optimized for those embracing such a lifestyle. The Sport Activity Vehicle lives up to its name, combining sporting good looks with versatile utility elements. These include a carrier system for two bicycles that is integrated into the interior.
In tune with its mission, the propulsion is also environmentally friendly. A transverse 1.5-liter gasoline engine is combined with an electric motor, making the car a plug-in hybrid. Special hard-wearing leather surfaces ensure durability even after contact with mud and bikes. The Concept Active Tourer Outdoor features front wheel drive, one of a slew of new BMWs coming with drive at the front wheels.
