Ferrari to supply Marussia F1 team engines in 2014

By William Herrera July 18,2013

With the rule changes regarding engines set for the 2014 season, the Marussia F1 team has decided to drop their current engine supplier, Cosworth, and opted for a 1.6 liter V6 turbocharged  Scuderia Ferrari powerplant and gearbox.

“ The importance of this development cannot be overstated,” said Marussia F1 team CEO Andy Webb. “Not only will we benefit from a customer supply from the most successful engine manufacturer in Formula One’s history, but this also provides further confirmation, if it were needed, of our commitment to the sport and determination to maintain our progress towards our long term ambitions.”

“The new powertrain regulations being introduced next year represent the most substantial engine development within the support since the introduction of the V8 Formula and are all the more significant for the increased contribution of the Engine Recovery System,” Webb added.

There are speculations that come 2014, there would only be three engine suppliers for the entire F1 grid, that being Ferrari, Mercedes and Renault. So the question left unanswered is, who will supply whom?
