Suzuki Philippines considers launching Kizashi sedan

August 19,2010

A Suzuki sedan to combat the Audi A4 and Mercedes C-Class? Suzuki is betting that the Kizashi has the chops to take on not just the established Japanese executive cars, but the Germans as well. Suzuki Philippines is displaying the Kizashi “concept car” to gauge a potential market for the vehicle. The Kizashi (Japanese for “sign of great things to come”—or perhaps a warning to other manufacturers?) promises a combination of driver satisfaction, looks, quality, and perhaps some of that great Suzuki value-for-money.

The Kizashi features a 2.4-liter dohc engine good for 185 bhp and 230 Nm mated to a six-speed manual or CVT. A new all-wheel drive system will be available, with driver-selectable front-wheel drive operation. Suspension uses McPherson struts at the front and a multilink setup at the rear.

Suzuki reportedly developed the car on such staple locations like Nurburgring (for handling), Death Valley (hot weather), Minnesota (cold weather), and the Swiss Alps (brakes). Recently, a modified Kizashi broke the speed record at the Bonneville salt flats.
