Shell launches FuelSave Unleaded and Diesel

July 13,2011

Pilipinas Shell has launched two new fuels reportedly designed to help motorists save fuel. The new FuelSave Unleaded and FuelSave Diesel will replace Shell Super Unleaded and Shell Diesoline Ultra (a confusing name if there was one). Shell says these are “a breakthrough in fuels technology and contain the most advanced Shell fuel economy formula to date.” Shell claims that motorists will save up to 1 liter per tank using the new fuel (around 2%, depending on your fuel tank capacity). The new fuel will cost the same as the brands they are replacing.

To launch the new fuels, Shell has hired ubiquitous automotive pitchman Ryan Agoncillo. He will head a team of four drivers who will attempt to reorient their driving habits towards a more economical style. The four are: HR specialist from Baguio Vanessa Santos, Geographic Information System (GIS) Specialist from Cavite Roland Patrick Villareal, entrepreneur from Quezon City Adrian Mark Law, and franchise manager Mel Anthony Endozo. They went on a fuel-economy training course in Sepang, Malaysia, and are expected to share their experience with the public.

Here’s the fuel, er full, write-up from Shell:

Shell has teamed up with TV host and actor Ryan Agoncillo to launch Shell FuelSave Unleaded and Diesel – two breakthrough fuels specially designed to help drivers save up to 1 liter per tank at the same price as standard-priced fuels with the New Shell FuelSave Unleaded and Shell FuelSave Diesel.

These fuels are a breakthrough in fuels technology and contain the most advanced Shell fuel economy formula to date. They will replace Shell Super Unleaded and Shell Diesoline Ultra, and will become Shell’s most advanced fuel economy fuels in the Philippines to help drivers be more fuel efficient.

To help lead the nation in saving fuel and money, Shell has teamed up with Ryan Agoncillo and four regular drivers who used to spend a lot on fuel, but have undergone extensive fuel economy training with Shell. They aim to inspire other drivers to save more fuel, and in return, save more money.

“I had no idea that by using the right fuel and making a few simple changes to my driving habits, I could be so much more fuel efficient. It really is that simple – which is why I am working with Shell to help drivers all over the Philippines learn how to save fuel and money,” says Ryan Agoncillo.

New Shell FuelSave Unleaded and Shell Fuel Save Diesel have been developed over the years by Shell scientists who are dedicated to creating innovative fuels for drivers. They are designed to improve fuel efficiency from the very first fill of the tank.

The innovation behind the new fuels lies in the Shell Efficiency Improver. For Shell FuelSave Unleaded, it works to reduce energy losses by lubricating parts of the engine where oils are less effective. On the other hand, for Shell FuelSave Diesel, it is designed to ignite and burn more effectively than regular diesel, helping to produce more efficient combustion in the engine.

“In these cost-conscious times, it’s not surprising that our customers want to save fuel and cut driving costs. In fact, in a recent research study, 96% of Filipino drivers said they were hungry for help to drive more efficiently. We have listened and, as a result, are proud to offer Shell FuelSave Unleaded and Diesel that can help them save from the very first fill,” said Pilipinas Shell General Manager for Retail Bong Fadullon.
