The new Kia Rio is set to continue Kia’s upswing from last resort to first choice.
Featuring a distinctly European-like exterior (think Peugeot mixed up with a little Seat and VW), the new Rio will be based off the Hyundai Accent, itself a promising B-segment car. The Rio hatchback will slot in at just above 4 meters (4045mm), on a 2570-mm wheelbase. Width is 1720mm, and height is 1455mm.
Available engines will be a 1.4-liter with 106 bhp and 135 Nm, and a 1.2-liter rated at 86 bhp and 120 Nm. Likely transmission choices for the Philippines will be a six-speed manual or four-speed automatic with manual override, although a six-speed auto is available in other markets. ABS with EBD brakes will be available on some variants. Promisingly, the Columbian Autocar plant has been listed as an assembly site for the third-generation Rio.
