Cars We Can’t Have: Rolls Royce Ghost Extended Wheelbase

April 19,2011

The Chinese car market, already the biggest in the world, has given rise to special editions that you will only see (or at least see first) in China. The extended-wheelbase Mercedes E-Class, BMW 5 Series and Audi A6 are just some of the examples of luxury cars redesigned for China.
Now comes Rolls Royce, unveiling its Ghost Extended Wheelbase at Auto Shanghai. The smallest Rolls Royce has its wheelbase stretched by 170mm, all the better to be chauffeured in. Rear legroom more than doubles as a result. This marks the first world debut for a Rolls Royce model in China, but we’re certain it won’t be the last.

Killer feature: 6.6 liter twin-turbo BMW V8 producing 780 Nm of torque at 1500 rpm. 0-100 km/h in five seconds.

Neat touch: Suicide doors and customized trim. Gold-plated Spirit of Ecstasy and stainless-steel pinstripes, anyone?

Why we can’t have it: To be built to order only
