Aston Martin was once under the Ford group, which meant it had access to engines and transmissions, one of the most costly parts of the car to develop. Since that relationship has been severed, the British brand has had to look for a replacement, and now it has them. The company has announced that it has signed an agreement with Mercedes AMG for the supply of bespoke V8 powertrains and electronic components. For its part, Daimler AG will own a stake of up to five percent of non-voting shares in Aston Martin. Aston Martin recently celebrated its 100th year anniversary. Aston will continue to manufacture all fo its sports cars at its Gaydon headquarters in Warwickshire, England.
