Chevrolet launches Spark 1.0 MT and AT

The Chevrolet Spark brought a little bit of style to the A-class segment when the current model was launched in March 2011 . Now Chevrolet Philippines is launching a pair of more affordable variants, powered by 1.0-liter gasoline engines. There’s even an automatic version. The car looks very good, especially for an entry-level variant.

The 995 cc-displacement translates to 67bhp and a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 15.5 seconds. Top speed is 154 km/h. Chevrolet quotes the manual at a miserly 22 km/liter.

The Spark carries the look of its 1.2-liter brother, and is not short on features. It has room for five (optimistically), a split-folding rear seat, driver’s airbag, and power door locks. The best thing about the new 1.0’s are the price: P518,888 for the 1 liter manual, and P568,888 for the automatic. If you don’t mind shifting on your own, the 1.2-liter is also at P568,000. Chevrolet’s five-year warranty also applies to the new Spark.
