The Suzuki Swift has been trading heavily on its similarity to the Mini Cooper, with its compact dimensions and wheels-at-the-corners stance. It’s no coincidence that not a few have been decorated with Union Jacks on their roofs. Pushing the similarity even further is now the job of the new Suzuki Swift Sport, a two-door version of everybody’s favorite Japanese Mini Cooper.
Following the relatively quiet launch of the all-new Swift, the Swift Sport features a “more aggressive and dignified exterior look thanks to a low-slung form that gives a sense of stability and tension, and a big front grille that evokes a sporty performance feel. The cabin combines essential sportiness with a high-quality look and feel, and design features that heighten excitement about the driving experience.”
Swift Sport is powered by a 1.6-liter engine, mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The engine provides 134 bhp and 160 Nm. Handling is reportedly improved thanks to struts with internal rebound springs and a new rear suspension design.
In other countries, comprehensive safety features such as seven airbags and ESP are standard. Swift Sport will make its official debut at Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
