2012 was a year to remember for Philippine fans of the automobile. A solid string of world-class cars debuted soon after their world premieres: BMW 3 Series, Subaru XV, Toyota 86, Subaru BRZ, BMW M5, Ford Focus, Hyundai Eon and Veloster, Mitsubishi Mirage, Ford Mustang, Audi A1, Chevrolet Colorado and Trailblazer, Peugeot 3008 and 5008, Honda Civic, Mazda 3 and CX-5, Toyota Camry, and many others. The breathless pace of new car introduction paid off as car sales slowly and surely rose towards the target of 180,000 unit sales.
