All-new Chevrolet Aveo First Photos

September 10,2010

After a strong return to the compact market with the Cruze, comes Chevrolet’s assault on the subcompact class with the all-new Aveo. The Aveo looks decidedly more interesting that the outgoing model, particularly with its two-door look, courtesy of the hidden rear doors.

Longer and wider than the old Aveo, the new car promises a more spacious interior and cargo space. Motorcycle-inspired instruments first seen in the Aveo show car and in the Spark make its way to the production car.

Driving performance is said to be among the best in class, with a stiff chassis and taut handling. ABS and stability control will be standard in Europe, presumably available elsewhere in the world. The 1.2-liter gasoline engine will produce 86 bhp, with an available 1.4-liter for an even 100 bhp. Diesels in 1.3-liter displacement will be available in Europe. Not to be outdone by the Fiesta, a six-speed automatic will be available.

If the Cruze is any indication of the brand’s progress, this should be a very interesting small car. The Aveo will debut in 2011.
