On top of the P500,000 donated to the victims of the 7.2-magnitude earthquake that badly hit Bohol and Cebu in October and the P1 million given to the victims of Supertyphoon “Yolanda” (international name: “Haiyan”) in November, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp. (MMPC) is again turning over an additional P3 million cash to aid not only the survivors but for the rehabilitation of provinces that were devastated by the strongest storm ever known to make landfall.

The additional donation earlier pledged by  Mitsubishi Motors Corp. (MMC) president Osamu Masuko    was coursed through its local affiliate, MMPC.

MMC president Osamu Masuko, during the press interview at the recent Tokyo Motor Show last Nov. 20, expressed his genuine compassion to the Philippines and pledged to extend assistance for the relief operations and rehabilitation efforts in the affected provinces.

“I’m very sorry for the loss of the lives of many people. I want to express my condolences. On the Japanese television, it has been broadcast, and the Japanese people take it as if its their own issue as well. And for the MMC and its affiliates, what we would like to do is  give its utmost support as well as cooperation. The government of Japan is also launching a very big-scale support… This is one of the major supports in relief activities that the Japanese government is launching,” Masuko said.

MMPC president and CEO Hikosaburo Shibata and corporate administration division manager Marcelo Cenir turned over the donation to Richard Gordon and Gwendolyn Pang of the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC).

Like the first two donations, MMPC has partnered with PNRC to take care of handling the the cash donations.

Mitsubishi is the second best-selling car brand in the Philippines, owning 22.3 percent of the market share.

Just last month, the company sold 3,618 units, according to the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc.

MMPC maintains a manufacturing plant located in Cainta, Rizal.
