CATS Motors Inc., the Philippine distributor for Mercedes-Benz, recently unveiled the new CLA 45 AMG and the A 45 AMG in an intimate gathering of VIP guests in its Mercedes-Benz Greenhills showroom. This adds to its roster of AMG-powered Mercedes-Benzes already available in the local market. Felix Ang, President of CATS Motors, Inc. says that the “A 45 and CLA 45 AMG provide an exciting introduction to the world of AMG. For the first time in the company’s history extending back over 45 years, AMG is offering two high-performance vehicles powered by a four-cylinder engine.”
The event also included a presentation of the AMG Driving Academy and AMG Private Lounge. The AMG Driving Academy offers training courses and events to AMG owners in world famous and legendary tracks around the globe using AMG high-performance models allowing AMG owners to hone their driving skills on and off the race track. Access to the AMG Private Lounge is exclusively available to AMG owners only.
While these new generation high performance compact cars seems to target a younger market than the previous AMG customers, these cars still adhere to the same core values of precision engineering and almost bespoke handling and customization of a true AMG car. The A 45 AMG is both an agile and nimble performer, offering a distinctive emotive high-performance experience for its highly urban centric owners. The CLA 45 AMG, on the other hand, follows the design philosophy of the highly successful CLS 63 AMG, its trend-setting four-door high-performance coupé big brother. Stylish almost to a fault, this AMG CLA is likewise an able street and track performer, offering a unique combination of a sporting driving experience and individuality.
In the heart of these two magnificent cars beats the most powerful production turbocharged four-cylinder engine in the world. With a maximum output of 360 hp and up to 450 Newton meters of torque, it is matted with the AMG Speedshift DCT 7-speed sports transmission on an AMG 4MATIC all-wheel drive platform that can launch these cars from 0 to 100 kph in 4.6 seconds and have a top speed of 270 kph (with AMG Driver’s Package). Its turbocharged low displacement engine makes it less thirsty as well, with a fuel consumption of 14.5 km/liter. The CLA 45 AMG is priced at P5.95 million while the A 45 AMG is priced at P4.75 million.
