Marlon Stockinger scorches streets of Bonifacio in Globe Slipstream event

Globe, the county’s leading telecommunications network, and its partner the Lotus F1 team, held a race-themed event dubbed “slipstream” at the Bonifacio Global City (BGC).

The event featured our very own, Filipino-Swiss Formula Renault 3.5 driver Marlon Stockinger. He has been on the cusp of being the first Filipino to drive in the pinnacle of motorsports, Formula One. Fans lined up around the closed streets of the BGC to see the young Stockinger take his Formula Renault for a demo run. Also participating in the festivities were the Ducati Club, various car clubs with their exotics running for a parade lap, and even the go-karts had their track time.

But it’s not all racing. Globe pulled out all the stops and featured interactive displays, race simulators, partner booth displays and even a music festival. The concert featured notable performers like Up Dharma Down, Yolanda Moon, and Autotelic. Globe also had the race fans’ interest in mind when it raffled off a Grand Prix package. The winner will fly to Singapore this coming September 19-22 and experience real Formula One action in the 2014 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix.

Globe’s Chief Operating Advisor, Peter Bithos said, “Globe Slipstream will bring one of the world’s fastest sports headlined by one of the fastest driving young drivers in the world at the country’s fastest developing business hub, powered by the nation’s fastest and most modern network. We would like to invite everybody to spend their weekend with us at the Bonifacio Global City and experience how it is to see fast, be fast and hear fast.”

From all indications, I would say Globe hit it spot on and merged fast cars, and by year end, 100 percent 4G HSPA+ network coverage. Truly a fast partnership if I ever saw one.
