Toyota USA has launched a facelifted version of the Camry sedan, the best-selling car in America for 16 of the past 17 years. Its perennial rival is the Honda Accord. The new Camry features a new exterior design, different interior materials, and reprotedly improved dynamic performance.
Standard engine on the US Camry is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 180ps and 230Nm of torque, while the 3.5-liter V6 generates 272 ps and 336 Nm. A six-speed automatic is the standard transmission.
The Camry gets a refreshed exterior with a new bumper and chrome front upper grille. Like its brethren the Vios and Corolla, and the Lexus cars, the new Camry gets a huge maw, inserted in the front bumper. Also featured are LED daytime running lights, available LED headlights, 17 or 18-inch wheels, and smoked rear trunk garnish. Toyota promises an even quieter and more comfortable ride thanks to retuned suspension, thicker carpets, more spot welds, better door seals, and reshaped shide mirrors.
The interior gets minor upgrades like available 8-way power driver’s seat, satin chrome accents, 4.2-inch multi-information display, tire pressure monitoring system, smart key system, and wireless charging for some cellphone models.
A hybrid model combines a 2.5-liter gasoline engine with electric motor to generate 203ps and a 0-96kph time of 7.6 seconds, putting it between the standard four-cylinder and V6 models. It gets up to 18.3 km/liter US EPA rating.
US Camrys get 10 airbags, traction control, stability control, ABS, and a brake-override system that can stop the car if a potential collision is detected.
