MANILA, Philippines–Nissan rose from the ranks and was recognized as one of the world’s most valuable brands for 2014, according to Interbrand, a world-leading brand consultancy firm which annually conducts the Best Global Brands Study.

Nissan went up nine spots with a rank of 56th versus 65th in the previous year—making it one of the top-risers in the study. Its stellar financial performance, exciting product portfolio and leadership in the electric vehicle segment were the key drivers in its headway in the brand equity space. Nissan’s brand value is estimated at $7.623 billion, up 23 percent from $6.2 billion in 2013.

The study also acknowledged Nissan’s recent product launches throughout the world as a demonstration of the brand’s strategic positioning, “Innovation and Excitement for Everyone.”

Interbrand’s method determines the ongoing investment and management of the brand as a business asset, taking into account the strength of the brand, financial performance and its role in the purchase decision process.

Prior to securing its space in the overall brand value segment, Nissan was named one of the world’s greenest brands for 2014 in Interbrand’s Best Global Green Brands report, due to the technology and market success of the Nissan LEAF.

Nissan remains the undisputed leader in the zero emission mobility, thanks to the LEAF.

“Our goal is to become one of the top-performing automotive brands in the Philippines and we recognize that making it happen requires changes: fortifying our business, offering innovative and exciting new products and upgrading the quality of our service,” said Antonio Zara, president and managing director of Nissan Philippines Inc. (NPI).

After starting its operations early this year, NPI is steadily bringing the brand’s culture of innovation in the local automotive arena.

In September, NPI launched the all-new X-Trail at the 5th Philippine International Motor Show.
