Honda Cars Philippines has released the upgraded 2015 CR-V. The new version of the best-selling crossover is brimming with new features, as well coming with the customary facelift and new wheels.
The CR-V has a new navigation system with 7-inch touch-screen interface. The CR-V’s two color screens help make sure you don’t ever make a wrong turn. The system cleverly splits the navigation interface, with the large lower screen containing the map and the upper screen displaying the direction and next turn. The display integrages the navigation and trip computer feautures. Audio streaming and phone connectivity are accessed via Bluetooth or USB. An HDMI port allows phone display mirroring. Duplicate controls are mounted on the steering wheel, and voice command is available.
The other new technology to debut with the CR-V is the blind-spot monitoring system called LaneWatch. Switching on the right signal will activate a tiny camera mounted below the right-side mirror and display the view on the LCD monitor. Honda says that this will provide a view four times greater than using the passenger-side mirror. There’s also a back-up camera with multiple views (normal, wide, and top down) with dynamic guidelines, and an emergency stop signal that flashes the brake and hazard lights during heavy braking. Electronic stability assist, ABS brakes with EBD, hill start assist are available. There’s push-button start-stop ignition with keyless transponder entry.
The exterior gets a smart-looking new face with LED daytime running lights, a new grille, 17-inch alloys, and new front and rear bumper garnish. Honda calls the new exterior “more masculine,” perhaps to dilute the image of the CR-V as a mom-mobile.
Under the hood is a choice of i-VTEC engines, in 2.0 or 2.4-liter displacement. The 2.0 delivers 153ps and 190 Nm of torque, and can be paired with a six-speed manual or five-speed automatic, with drive going to the front wheels. The 2.4 gives out 185 ps and 220Nm and is paired with a five-speed automatic with paddle shifters. The 2.4 is equipped with all-wheel drive.
The CR-V is equipped with eco-coaching meter that changes to green when driving efficiently, as well as the Econ button that modulates throttle response and shift patterns, as well as lessens aircon power to enhance fuel economy.
The New CR-V is available in four variants with the following introductory prices:
