Motoring 2014: Chevrolet boasts of average double-digit growth since 2009
CHEVROLET Philippines continues to deliver outstanding sales performance for 2014.
The company posted impressive sales figures that began early this year, with January and February sales figures showing a 70 percent increase in sales, or a total of 1,298 unit sales compared to 760 units sold during the same period in 2013.
The company posted a record-setting performance with a total of 5,954 units sold from January to September 2014, or a 73.5 percent gain over the same period last year.
Since it began operations in 2009, The Covenant Car Company Inc. (TCCCI), being the exclusive importer and distributor of Chevrolet vehicles and parts in the Philippines, announced that sales for the Chevrolet brand had grown by 41 percent on average each year.
To date, TCCCI has sold more than 20,000 Chevrolet vehicles in the Philippines, rising from the 12th spot in 2009 to eighth overall in the market.
In September, Chevrolet Philippines re-introduced the Captiva, a well-received compact SUV known for its superior ride and handling, commendable SUV capabilities, and modern features.
Built with a 2.0L CRDi Turbo Diesel engine with 6-speed automatic transmission, the Captiva features a new elegant design, attractive exterior, luxurious interior, impressive performance and other advanced technologies.
With its Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VGT) technology, the Captiva delivers fast and accurate acceleration response. Similar to other Chevrolet diesel vehicles, the Captiva is designed to deliver fuel efficiency. Now with a new second generation GF6 six-speed automatic transmission with Driver Shift Control and ECO drive mode, the Captiva can produce better fuel consumption ratings.
The Captiva promises a smooth and quiet ride, thanks to its McPherson Strut and stabilizer, 4-dimension, multi-link suspension system. The Captiva’s impressive load-bearing capabilities can be partly attributed to the self-leveling system that works to distribute weight equally around the car, to accommodate large loads and uneven passenger distribution.
The Chevrolet Trailblazer and Chevrolet Colorado were successful in penetrating the local mid-sized sport utility vehicle (SUV) and compact pick-up truck markets. The two models are the first and third among the Chevrolet’s best-selling units.
Both SUVs are now equipped with an improved Duramax Turbo-Diesel engine which comes in a 2.5-liter and 2.8-liter variants. Both models feature an upgraded Powertrain that, with a bigger engine displacement, can now produce a maximum of 200HP and 500 Nm of torque.
The Colorado and the Trailblazer now come with a special 3-year overall warranty plus a 2-year extended warranty for the powertrain, or 100,000 kilometers (whichever comes first). This provides customers with a worry-free ownership experience.
Another bestselling Chevrolet unit is the Chevrolet Spin, a 7-seater All-around Utility Vehicle (AUV) that provides impressive road performance and fuel efficiency with its 1.3-liter CRDi Turbo-Diesel engine and 1.5-liter Dual VVTi gasoline engine variants.
The Chevrolet Spin is equipped with several comfort and convenience features such as flexible second and third row seat configurations, Bluetooth audio streaming and 6-speed automatic transmission with manual mode option for the 1.5 LTZ gas variant.
The Chevrolet Spin is built with a sporty sleek design that breaks the traditional utilitarian look. With its dual-port front grille, muscular and imposing lines it projects a modern and distinctive presence.
Along with the brand’s flagship units, Chevrolet also brings a variety of models for drivers of all types to choose from. The brand’s mini-passenger car includes the Chevrolet Spark and the subcompact Chevrolet Sonic. There’s also the compact sedan Chevrolet Cruze and the multi-purpose vehicle Chevrolet Orlando, as well as the new executive sedan Chevrolet Malibu.
Chevrolet dealerships now number to 21 nationwide. The brand looks to raise that number to 29 fully operational stations by the end of 2014.
