Suzuki PH unveils improved A+ Celerio

IN THE global automotive industry, Suzuki is known for its versatile subcompact cars which appeal to first-time car buyers and younger millennials.

Suzuki Philippines proved that the brand deserves its class-leading reputation when it unveiled the all-new Celerio last Wednesday featuring an A+ compact build that steps up the strengths and exceeds the limits of the A segment car.

Suzuki Philippines president Hiroshi Suzuki presented eight new Celerio units in eight vibrant colors which implement the brand’s “small on the outside, big on the inside” mantra.

“We are very excited to showcase our A+ compact design to the Filipino market,” Suzuki said. “You will all be amazed with the architecture of this model, particularly its best-in-class luggage capacity, superb ease and comfort in driving, and outstanding fuel efficiency.  We are confident that this all-new Suzuki Celerio will set a new standard for its kind.”

Made in Thailand, the new Celerio is powered by an improved K10B three-cylinder, 1-liter, D0HC 12-valve engine capable of 67 horsepower at 6,000 revolutions per minute and 90 Newton-meters  at 3,500 rpm max torque.
It reportedly gets 20 kilometers per liter in combined city and highway driving.

The improved K10 engine is 9 kilograms lighter than the outgoing model’s, contributing to the car’s fuel efficiency.

The new Celerio is the only subcompact on the Philippine market with a CVT (continuously variable transmission) that further improves fuel economy. A five-speed manual transmission is also available.

The Celerio has a class-above array of safety features: antilock braking system, dual airbags, collapsible steering column, side impact beams, high-mount stop lamp and defogger, driver’s seatbelt reminder, immobilizer, remote control keyless entry system, and Suzuki’s patented TECT (Total Effective Control Technology) which provides pedestrian protection.

The suspension system consists of MacPherson struts in front and a rear torsion beam with coil springs fore and aft.  Rack and pinion with electric power steering, ventilated disc brakes in front, leading and trailing drum brakes at the rear, and 14-inch alloy wheels shod with 165/65R14 tires complete the chassis setup.

The luggage capacity increases to 254 liters when the 60:40 rear seat is stowed. The cabin is amazingly roomy with spacious legroom and higher headroom, given the Celerio’s small exterior appearance. There are five bottle holders and storage pockets in the front doors.
The audio system is integrated with AM, FM, CD, MP3, USB and Aux plus four speakers. The instrument panel also has a tachometer, an information display showing a digital clock, trip meter and odometer, a fuel consumption (instantaneous, average and range) gauge, lights off reminder alarm, key left reminder alarm.
Suzuki Philippines is offering the all-new Celerio at their outlets nationwide with prices starting at P507,000 for the manual transmission variant and P542,000 for the CVT model.
