Although she’s hurting over personal differences, singer-actress Nora Aunor is proud of and happy for her son, actor Ian de Leon, who recently earned plaudits among netizens for his quick action in saving a young victim of a hit-and-run accident.

“Masaya ako sa ginawa ni Kristoffer Ian sa batang tinulungan niya. Nagkataon na walang ibang tumulong kaya nakasentro ang tingin ng mga tao sa ginawa niyang pagtulong at maski ako ay proud sa ginawa niyang kabutihan,” Aunor told the Inquirer on Tuesday before the press conference of her latest film, Adolfo Alix Jr.’s “Whistleblower.”

(I am happy for Kristoffer Ian that he was able to help a child. No one else was able to extend a helping hand that’s why his act is at the center of people’s attention and I am proud of his good deed.)

Last Sunday, Kristine Madrigal Sarmiento sought the help of netizens to reach out to De Leon, so she could “personally” thank him for bringing her 10-year-old son Ethan, who was hit by “a speeding motorcycle,” to the hospital.

In her Facebook post, Sarmiento said the actor “was the only one who came to the rescue of a total stranger.”

De Leon later wrote on Facebook: “Thank you for all your kind words! Our good Lord knows how grateful I am that he used me as His tool to help out Ethan.”

On Tuesday, the actor’s sister Lotlot de Leon posted on Facebook: “Ian and Ethan’s mom were able to talk already.”

His sister pointed out that “it was not the first time that Ian” helped someone in need.

It is no secret in show biz circles that Aunor and her son have had misunderstandings, “mga tampuhan,” in the past.

Still, Aunor expressed pride for her and actor Christopher de Leon’s firstborn: “Hero siya sa mata ng mga tao. Pero mas masaya sana ako kung maayos ang lahat … Ang pinaka-importante naman ngayon ay ang ginawa niyang kabutihan sa kapwa niya. Magandang gesture ang ginawa niya bilang tao. Inuulit ko, masaya ako na nakatulong siya sa batang naaksidente. Pagpalain siya nawa ng Panginoon sa tulong na ginawa niya. Saludo ako sa kanya.”

(He is a hero in the public eye. I would have been happier if only everything was all right between us. What’s important is the pleasing act he has done to his fellow. He manifested a good gesture as a person. I repeat, I am happy that he was able to help a child who was a victim of an accident. May God bless him for the help he has done. I salute him.) – Bayani San Diego Jr.,  RAM
