The National Bureau of Investigation  has started looking into the case of Ricky Ramos, the taxi driver accused of robbing four of his passengers and raping one of them.

It launched its own investigation into the complaints against Ramos after one of his alleged victims went to the NBI office in Manila to ask for help on Wednesday.

Ramos, who remains at large, is accused of robbing four female passengers on three separate occasion.

His last passenger told the police that she was also raped. All three incidents happened on the 19th of each month, starting with Jan. 19, with all of the passengers saying they flagged down Ramos’ taxi cab in Mandaluyong City where he is a resident. The police, however, failed to find him when they checked his last known addresses.

In the last incident which happened on March 19, the cab Ramos used (AAP 7886) was later found abandoned in Makati City with some of his victim’s possessions.

According to the police, Ramos has pending robbery cases in the Manila and Makati courts. The rape case filed against him by the 22-year-old victim, however, was the first.

Ramos was positively identified by his victims after they were shown photos of known crime suspects by the Mandaluyong police. -Aie Balagtas See
