For many carmakers celebrating a milestone, they usually highlight past achievements and glory. For BMW, it’s an occasion to look to the future.
As the German company celebrates its 100th anniversary, it continues to explore and push forward the meaning of mobility.
This year, BMW will be highlighting its centenary at the Philippine International Motor Show.
BMW’s Philippine distributor Asian Carmakers Corporation will be exhibiting six special models at the auto show.
The BMW Pavilion will house the following special cars at PIMS:
BMW i8
The i8 is a plug-in hybrid sports car that combines zero local emissions motoring with the high performance expected of a flagship supercar.
The i8 looks like it drove straight from the future, with its incredibly low profile and exposed aerodynamic ducting.
BMW 750Li
The ultimate luxury sedan from BMW saw several innovations. These include a carbon core chassis, where carbon fiber has been used to reinforce the frame in key places. This reduces weight while increasing strength and rigidity.
The 7 Series cockpit also introduces the available gesture control, where the driver can simply wave a hand or fingers to control the audio and information center.
BMW 4 Series 100 Years Edition
The 4 Series is BMW’s premium compact coupe, and serves as a fitting model to receive the 100 Years Edition treatment.
Special paint and interior trim will distinguish this limited-edition 4 Series.
BMW X4 100 Years Edition
BMW’s X4 combines the styling of a coupe with the ruggedness and versatility of a crossover.
The X4 100 Years Edition will be on display at the auto show.
BMW X1
The compact crossover segment is hot, and BMW introduced a premium element to this with its X1 sports activity vehicle.
The X1 features the higher ground clearance together with the nimble manners of a BMW. Four-cylinder engines combine with available all-wheel drive to deliver dynamic, pleasing performance.
BMW 3 Series M Performance
Another limited edition production vehicle is the 3 Series M Performance.
This 3 Series is outfitted with M sport wheels and various enhancements including aerodynamic package, side sills, rear spoiler and mirror caps.
These vehicles will serve to highlight BMW’s mission to stay at the forefront of mobility as it introduces key solutions for the next 20 to 30 years of motoring.
BMW sees this period as one that will contain massive changes. These include: versatile mobility, connectivity and digital intelligence, tailor-made mobility, human-adaptable technology, emission-free mobility, and international diversity.
