Nowadays, the car is the best extension of Mom’s domain. It is what she uses to chauffeur, acquire, gather her supplies, offspring, dreams and aspirations.
I continually write about how the motoring industry is changing, brought about the increased participation of women in bringing home the bacon.
But there are other things that help us women to become mobile. We are, after all, the champions of efficiency.
Juggling motherhood, career, hobby and community, we are the definition of what multi-tasking is.
So, every year, I prepare a list of my favorite, desired and cool items that every mobile mom should have.
Here are my choices this year.
Garmin Fenix 5
Since I use triathlon training as my exercise, a good and fashionable watch that measures not only my swim, bike and run trainings, but most importantly counts my steps and calories.
There are other high tech features that can satisfy even the most data hungry triathlete.
These are the built in heart rate monitor, GPS and GLONASS support, Bluetooth, smart notification and WiFi connectivity, activity tracker, sleep monitoring, Vo2 max estimator, sapphire glass, thermometer, and a whole lot of other meters.
The best part is its multitude of colors and materials for straps to match your outfit of the day.
The Fenix 5s is available at Garmin concept stores within the metro.
MINI Countryman
The era of soccer moms is ending. We are now entering the era of cool, badass moms who can rival their kids with coolness and number of OOTD selfies in their instagram accounts.
Moms, therefore, also need to have to have the coolest car.
The newly launched MINI Countryman has a longer wheelbase, electrical touchless tailgate control, five full-fledged seats (with option to have a picnic bench), and a flexible surface that folds out of the luggage compartment and provides seating for two people.
The MINI Countryman is the SUV version of the cute and cool car, because moms need the space without sacrificing style.
The cockpit of the MINI always reminds me of a high tech Austin Powers movie. Well, maybe this is just my age showing.
The Mini Countryman starts at P2.9 million.
Aston Martin Vanquish S
If you really want to make your mom the coolest mom in the neighborhood, you can opt for James Bond’s choice—the Aston Martin Vanquish S.
Since Mom’s spying prowess is comparable to 007, this 6-liter V12 engine producing 588 ps with a top speed of 323 km/h, and achieves zero to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds, will not only make you her favorite, but will also make her drive so fast that whatever you are doing will be a blur.
Visually, the Vanquish S is readily distinguished by a new aerodynamic package, cloaked in a suit of carbon.
A 2×2 carbon fibre twill front splitter and rear diffuser will not only accentuate exterior styling, but improve high-speed stability as well.
The difference between an Aston Martin and other supercars is its design suited for comfortable high performance driving.
It is always going to give you a grand touring experience without sacrificing style or speed.
DrivePro 100 dashcam
So that we don’t have to bother arguing with people that we cross paths on the bad side of road, dashcams are a must for car users, especially moms.
Since a picture is worth a thousand really angry and threatening words, video evidence silences everyone, even the toughest of road users.
Spare your mom the wrinkles and additional trip to therapy (whether alcoholic or the expensive one) by giving her a Drive Pro dashcam.
The DrivePro 100 dashcam has built-in battery that allows the recorder to continue to record for 30 seconds after a power failure.
It has high-quality wide angle glass lenses that can capture snapshots and clear full HD footage for display on a bright 2.4-inch color LCD screen.
The easy to operate DrivePro 100 includes an auto power on/off feature and the free-to-download DrivePro PC tool for Windows for users to play recorded videos on their PC.
Available at PCWorx Festival Mall, Gilmore and Megamall.

Butterfly Twists foldable shoes
This item should always be in a mobile mom’s glove compartment.
The foldable Butterfly Twists flats or slip ons is a comfortable, space saving, and stylish driving shoes alternative.
These shoes inside your car removes all your limitations for the day because you just have to take it off and slip into heels.
This can also help moms survive a full day and still be able to wear those killer heels for an event and a comfy one while doing errands in between.
I know there is a saying you should suffer for beauty, but you don’t have to be a full martyr. A pair of Butterfly Twists would be a wise and fashionable choice.
Butterfly Twists stores are located at the Alabang Town Center, Megamall, and Glorietta. Visit www.butterfly-twists.ph.
Dyson V8
The vacuum de jour is the Dyson V8, whose claim to fame is having the best fade-free suction, thanks to its V8 digital motor that spins 110,000 rpm (five times faster than a Formula 1 engine).
The lightweight and practical design makes the Dyson V8 a versatile vacuum that you can use both for your car and home.
This model also features a whole machine HEPA filtration, a more quiet operation, and extended battery life.
Due to its design, the Dyson V8 is able to suck up fine dust and large debris simultaneously.
It also has a hygienic dirt ejector, which eliminates the need to handle the dirt directly.
As the bin is emptied, a rubber collar slides down the shroud, scraping dirt off. This enables the user to hygienically drive out trapped dust and debris in a single action.
You may find it in leading appliance stores.
Leica D-Lux
This camera is both stylish and easy to use and carry. No need to have a master’s degree in photography to be able to operate and have great pictures.
I particularly love that I can easily put it on my pocket. It gives you a good lens range that you need when you are travelling and feel that you have outgrown your smartphone camera.
The Leica D-Lux has 4K video recording, a 24-75 mm f/1.7-2.8 Leica lens, high-speed AF, built-in live view finder (LVF), and a 3-inch LCD screen.
It has an ISO range of 100-25,600, high speed burst shooting at 11 fps with the mechanical shutter and 40 fps with the electronic shutter, aperture and control rings, and integrated Wi-Fi and NFC connectivity.
Although it took me a bit longer to set up the image transfer from the camera to my iPhone, after I was able to figure it out, the succeeding transfers were a breeze.
The Leica store is at the basement level of Greenbelt 5.
