Volvo PH welcomes the arrival of this year’s European Car of the Year – the Volvo XC40 compact SUV. The insistent clamor for Volvo’s newest baby has prompted the local Volvo dealer to ship a limited number of units just so local Volvo enthusiasts can have an up-close-and-personal encounter. Due to the outstanding qualities of this purebred Swedish stunner, however, the initial batch already found new homes in the Philippines. There is no cause for worry though as Volvo Philippines has opened its order books and continue to accept reservations for this highly anticipated premium SUV. Global XC40 orders already exceeded the 20,000 mark and continue to enjoy high demand.
Its birth means that for the first time, Volvo Cars has three new globally available SUVs in what is the fastest growing segment of the automotive market. This paves the way for further growth in sales and profitability.
“More importantly, it gives the market a wider selection of SUVs that fit their personality and lifestyle. Whether it’s the large and ultra luxe XC90 SUV, the World Car of the Year Volvo XC60 mid-size SUV, or this fun city cruiser XC40 SUV, there is a Volvo for every person out there,” adds Christopher Lee Yu, Marketing Head for Volvo Philippines.
The Volvo XC40’s expressive design, ingenious storage solution, and smart technology make everyday city living easier and less complicated.
Exciting and playful, the XC40 exudes a carefree character. Youthful design masterfully melded with SUV proportions creates a car with a bold statement.
The new XC40 is the first model on the Volvo Cars’ new modular small car platform, the Compact Modular Architecture (CMA), which will underpin all upcoming cars in the 40 series. This allows the XC40 to deliver an energized feel — alert, precise, responsive, and connected — perfect for winding country roads or busy urban traffic while still delivering Volvo’s signature comfort levels.
In terms of technology, the XC40 brings the award-winning safety, connectivity, and infotainment technologies known from the new 90- and 60 Series cars to the small SUV segment. Like its larger siblings, the XC40 highlights the transformational effect of these new, in-house developed technologies on brand and profitability.
These technologies make the XC40 one of the best-equipped small premium SUVs on the market. Safety and driver assistance features on the XC40 include Volvo Cars’ Pilot Assist system, City Safety, Run-off Road protection and mitigation, Cross Traffic alert with brake support and the 360° Camera that helps drivers maneuver their car into tight parking spaces.
The XC40 also offers a radically new approach to storage inside the car. Ingenious interior design provides XC40 drivers with, among other things, more functional storage space in the doors and under the seats, a special space for phones including inductive charging, a foldout hook for small bags, and a removable waste bin in the tunnel console.
Locally, the XC40 is available with 2.0L petrol four-cylinder Drive-E powertrain. Volvo PH is also looking into bringing in other powertrain options, including a hybridized, as well as, a pure electric version.
