ISUZU Philippines Corp. (IPC) announced it had resumed its Fuel Eco Challenge series, which this time around is aimed at Isuzu car clubs.
IPC said the 2019 Isuzu Fuel Eco Challenge Car Club Edition is its way of promoting and advocating fuel-efficient driving among existing Isuzu vehicle owners and eventual Isuzu buyers, as well as highlighting the efficiency, power, ride comfort and durability of the new Isuzu Mu-X RZ4E SUV and the Isuzu D-Max RZ4E pickup. Both vehicles have Blue Power diesel engine technology.
IPC said the first leg of the Car Club Edition already took place on August 3 at the IPC manufacturing plant at the Laguna Technopark in Binan. Twelve members of the Isuzu Mu-X Owners of the Philippines (Mu-x OP) club competed against each other using a Mu-X RZ4E and a D-Max RZ4E on a 4.2-kilometer course laid out around the IPC grounds. Six participants drove the Mu-X, the others took the D-Max.
The participants from the car club were joined by four automotive journalists who competed in their own category.
“IPC has always valued, and strove for, not just power and reliability in all its vehicles, but also fuel efficiency. Our RZ4E Blue Power engine exemplifies our effort to produce the most fuel-efficient diesel engine, capable of producing more power for less fuel. But fuel efficiency can only be achieved if the driver practices the best habits of fuel-efficient driving,” said IPC vice president for sales Yasuhiko Oyama, who reiterated the significance of holding the fuel eco challenge.
He added the activity’s Car Club Edition “brings together the best drivers and the best engine” as the “spirit of camaraderie that exists in every thriving car club makes the exchange of sound knowledge and driving skills from one owner to the other that much faster and more effective.”
IPC said the second leg of the 2019 Isuzu Fuel Eco Challenge Car Club Edition had also been held on August 10, with Team Isuzu Pilipinas participating. The third leg of the activity is set on August 17 with the Team Isuzu Car Enthusiasts.
