Volvo PH road safety program goes to La Salle Greenhills

September 13,2019

VOLVO Philippines said it conducted in La Salle Greenhills its Safe Roads Program, which aims to make roads around school premises safer.

The program, introduced in August at MGC New Life Christian Academy as Volvo Philippines’ first partner school, raises road safety awareness by installing road and traffic signage in key areas around schools. These signs remind road users to be more careful and hopefully curb traffic-related accidents.

Volvo Philippines, citing World Health Organization statistics, said about 1.35 million people die each year from road traffic crashes. Half of these deaths are among the most vulnerable road users — cyclists, pedestrians and motorcyclists. Injuries from road crashes are also the leading cause of deaths among people between the ages of five to 29 years old.

Volvo Philippines said it has continually spread information about road safety through regular updates to its clients, car safety demonstrations, child safety seminars, and installing road safety signs and murals in leading malls and public spaces.

The company said its road safety initiatives are in line with Volvo’s Vision 2020, which aims for no one to die or get seriously injured in a new Volvo by the year 2020.
