Nissan IMk concept

NISSAN Motor will display 14 models at the 46th Tokyo Motor Show, set on October 24 to November 4. One of the highlights will be the IMk, a new zero-emission concept car that embodies the future of Nissan Intelligent Mobility.

The Nissan Leaf e+, Serena e-Power, GT-R and the new Skyline fitted with the brand’s ProPilot 2.0 driver-assist tech are also expected to be the crowd-drawers at the show.

Nissan called the IMk the “ultimate urban commuter, with cutting-edge technologies and powerful EV acceleration in a compact body that signals the future of Nissan design.” The IMk sits on an all-new EV platform. It is also equipped with the latest ProPILOT advanced driver assistance technologies and seamless connectivity features.

“The IMk provides a glimpse of how urban-oriented cars may look and feel in the near future,” Nissan said.

The Leaf e+ offers additional range and more powerful performance by adding a new electric powertrain. The high-capacity, high-density battery has more than 40% additional range, or up to 458 kilometers. Nissan said it has already sold more than 430,000 Leaf electric cars globally since the model was released in 2010.

The Serena e-Power minivan, known as an early adopter of the ProPilot and e-Power, has been updated with a 360-degree safety protection as standard equipment. It also gets refreshed looks.

Having already received the latest version of the ProPilot, the new Skyline sport sedan’s gasoline-powered versions have been fitted with a 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo VR30DDTT engine, and the model’s new 400R variant is the most powerful Skyline ever, with 400hp on tap.

Nissan GT-R 50th Anniversary

Nissan at the Tokyo Motor Show will also display the GT-R 50th Anniversary special edition model and the 2020 Nissan GT-R Nismo. The GT-R 50th Anniversary version gets exclusive interior and exterior items and two-tone color combinations reminiscent of traditional Nissan works liveries. The 2020 GT-R Nismo is equipped with turbochargers identical to the ones used on the 2018 GT3 racecar version of the GT-R. It also has newly developed carbon ceramic brakes while exterior components made of carbon include the roof, hood and front fenders. Together with carbon ceramic brakes and the new Recaro front seats, the wide adoption of carbon pieces has resulted in a near 30-kilogram weight reduction. This significantly improves the car’s cornering performance.
Nissan said it will also set up a souvenir shop at its booth at the show, which will sell event-exclusive merchandise for the 50th anniversaries of the GT-R.
