Vios racing festival wraps up this weekend
When the Toyota Vios Racing Festival—known for the past five years as the Toyota Vios Cup—started its sixth season last June at the Clark International Speedway in Pampanga, racing fans were treated to another level in motorsports.
This year’s edition held two types of races—the most anticipated Circuit Championship and the latest addition, the Autocross Challenge.
While the Circuit Championship will still look for the best drivers under the Promotional, Sporting, and Celebrity categories, although this time riding the All-New Vios, the Autocross Challenge invited celebrities, members of the media, and car club racers in a timed competition within a specially designed obstacle course where participants would set the quickest time while making sure not to hit any traffic cones and plastic barriers (Toyota’s way of giving enthusiasts an opportunity to hone their motorsport skills within a safe environment).
Concluding races
Since scores garnered by the racers from the previous races are being accumulated in order to declare the overall champions by the end of the 2019 season, expect the names of Eggy Ong of JBT Racing/Toyota San Fernando; Red Diwa of Growl/Thule Racing and JBT Racing/Toyota Isabela; John Dizon of Toyota Marila-Obengers; Lord Seno of Toyota Cebu; Marc Soong of Make A Wish/Toyota Balintawak-Obengers; Gel Napat of Team Biskeg/Toyota Dagupan; Clive Fermin of Team Cebu; and Bryan Revilla of Team Biskeg/Toyota Dagupan to rearrange the leaderboard of the Sporting Class category.
Meanwhile, Francis Adriano of Toyota San Jose Del Monte-Obengers is expected to slug it out with Elysse Adriano of Toyota North Edsa-Obengers as well as Julian Tang of Toyota Otis-Obengers as the three try to rule the Promotional Class.
Not to be discounted are Darrel Garbes of JBT Racing/Toyota San Fernando; Fabio Ide of Toyota Motor Philippines; Julian Neri of Toyota Cebu; and Maila Alivia of JBT Racing/Toyota Isabela as they could still wrestle points from these front runners.
In the exciting Celebrity Class, the names Daniel Matsunaga, Troy Montero, Gretchen Ho; and Aubrey Miles are still leading the scoreboard although Gerald Anderson and Chienna Filomeno might still spring a surprise.
Promote motorsport
Through these activities of Toyota Vios Racing Festiva, Toyota Motor Philippines wishes to not only elevate local motorsport, but also to instill among Filipinos the importance of improving driving skills and prioritizing road safety.
Toyota Motor Philippines president Satoru Suzuki said earlier that to boost and encourage Filipino interest in motorsports, the company also brought back the greatly missed Toyota Racing School through its official motorsports partner Tuason Racing School wherein TMP helped participants enjoy optimal racing experience.
The Vios Racing Festival is held in cooperation with Bridgestone; alongside official fuel partner Petron; supported by Motul, Rota, and Toyota Racing Development; as well as other sponsors Brembo, Denso, AVT, 3M, OMP, and Tuason Racing.
