Land Rover’s new discovery sport, new defender now in PH

Philippine Daily Inquirer December 25,2019

Coventry Motors Corp. (CMC), exclusive distributor of Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles in the Philippines, recently unveiled the new Land Rover Discovery Sport as well as the new Land Rover Defender. The reveal, which was held at the showroom of All British Cars, along Edsa, Greenhills, was presided over by Chris Ward, president of CMC.

“We are thrilled to bring the new Discovery Sport, the latest addition to our product portfolio for the Philippine market. The new Discovery Sport pushes the boundaries of the premium compact SUV sector with an enhanced exterior design and transformed interior, which I’m sure our Filipino customers will love and appreciate,” said Ward.

During the same event, Ward also said he is very excited to bring the New Land Rover Defender to the Philippines. “This is a New Defender for the New Age, built with the best modern technology and safety systems while keeping the adventurous spirit and dynamic profile of a true all-weather, all-terrain vehicle.”

Meanwhile, Ward said that the New Discovery Sport has been enhanced to meet the needs of today’s family. The generous space, flexible seating options, and built-in user-friendly technology make this the most ideal family adventure vehicle.

Respectful of its past

Gerry McGovern, Land Rover’s Chief Design Officer explained that the New Defender is respectful of its past but is not harnessed by it. “Its unique personality is accentuated by its distinctive silhouette and optimum proportions, which make it both highly desirable and seriously capable—a visually compelling 4×4 that wears its design and engineering integrity with uncompromised commitment.”

While the stripped-back personality of the original Defender has been embraced inside, the New Defender offers innovative features that include a dash-mounted gear shifter to accommodate an optional central front “jump” seat, which provides three-abreast seating across the front like early Land Rovers.

The New Defender has been through more than 62,000 tests for engineering sign-off, while the chassis and body architecture have been engineered to withstand Land Rover’s Extreme Event Test procedure—repeated and sustained impacts, above and beyond the normal standard for SUV and passenger cars.

A true Land Rover

Meanwhile, Felix Brautigam, Chief Commercial Officer at Jaguar Land Rover said that the new Land Rover Discovery Sport is a true Land Rover that embodies what the Discovery family stands for: amazing versatility that allows our customers and their families to make more of their world.

Customers may now reserve a unit—Discovery Sport S 2.0L Diesel at P4.490 million, while the Discovery Sport R-Dynamic S 2.0L Diesel at P4.790 million—or book a test drive with All British Cars (ABC).

Meanwhile Ward informed that the new Defender will be available in five variants at the following price points: Defender 110 Urban at P6.21 million; Defender 110 Country at P6.26 million; Defender 110 Adventure at P6.34 million; Defender 110 Explorer at P6.51 million; and Defender 110 First Edition at P9.29 million.

ABC is located along Edsa, Greenhills. A new showroom will open soon at Bonifacio Global City. For more details, please visit www.landrover.phhttps://www.youtube.com/Land Rover.
