In an attempt to flee a traffic cop, a drunk driver accidentally crashed into another car, which turned out to be driven by another drunk driver, in Oregon, USA.
Jakavis Paschal, 43, was stopped by a police officer last Thursday, Jan. 30, in Southeast Portland, as per The Oregonian on Friday (Saturday in Manila). Before the officer got to him, however, he suddenly drove away.
The officer decided not to pursue the drunk driver, but other police officers saw Paschal’s 2007 Chevrolet Impala traveling at “a high rate of speed.” Paschal was found to have a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) level of 0.14%, almost twice the US’ legal limit of 0.08%.
The suspect eventually crashed into the vehicle of one 30-year-old Marquita Jefferson, another drunk driver, who posted a BAC level of 0.12%, as per report. She was severely injured and was being treated at a hospital.
Paschal was arrested on suspicion of attempting to elude by vehicle, driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving, fourth-degree assault, second-degree criminal mischief, driving while suspended and failing to perform the duties of a driver, according to the report.
The 43-year-old, however, was reported to have since been released from jail.
Jefferson, meanwhile, was cited for intoxicated driving as well. Ian Biong /ra
