MG Philippines just closed its first full year of operations in the country with a record sales figure of 5,085 units, an achievement that catapulted it into the Top 10 best performing brands in the country.

The Covenant Car Company, Inc. (TCCCI), the exclusive importer and distributor for MG, announced its entry into the local market in November 2018 and by 2019, establishing MG dealerships that mushroomed quickly into a total of 24 dealerships as of January 2020. MG Philippines already had bared plans to have seven more dealerships by the end of the year.

What makes the MG brand very successful and popular? When you drive along the streets of the metro, chances are you will encounter an MG vehicle on the road. Very impressive for just being in the market for a year.

What’s not to like about MG cars? These charming and good looking British heritage brand traces its roots back in 1924 when Cecil Kimber came out with a highly tuned Morris Car, fondly calling it the Old Number One. By 1933, the MG K3 Magnette became the first non-Italian car to win the 1,100cc class at the Mille Miglia, considered the toughest race in the world at the time. Fast forward to 2007, Chinese automaker SAIC takes over MG Motors and invigorates the brand, coming up with new and exciting models, making owning these cars very cool and appealing, specially to the fast-growing millennial market.

But having a good product line is only one thing, there are a number of great car brands out there in the market. On the local auto market, TCCCI took the challenge of introducing MG by making sure it outspent its competition by aggressively pumping a huge marketing budget, from advertising, to pop-up events, sponsorships, brand partnerships and events that made sure the MG brand is visible and a top-of-mind brand in the market. It did not just rely on social media digital market, the hard working team of MG Philippines made sure the MG badge became highly visible, from having a sprawling exhibition booth at the 2019 Manila International Auto Show last April, to being a sponsor at the 2019 SEA Games, UAAP and mixed martial arts One Championship, to staging MG Live! Concerts in various cities in the country, MG PH has been very busy last year.

The whole 2019 was about introducing new model offerings for MG, from the popular and gorgeous MG ZS crossover SUV, its best-selling model, it also introduced three other models—the RX5 SUV, MG 6 Fastback sedan and MG 5 sedan.

All these models offer excellent value-for-money proposition, as MG hit the spot by making these cars very affordable and packed with useful key features. MG dealers are just as happy. Averaging 400 units a month last year, the sales trajectory for 2020 looks like it is pointing to another upward trajectory. These dealers also offer MG owners with a pleasant and reassuring reliable ownership experience. These include a 5-year or 100,000km warranty (whichever comes first), and a one-year free periodic maintenance service (PMS) for worry-free assurance.

Aside from these, MG owners can also download the My MG mobile app (Android, via Google Play), which allows them to easily schedule vehicle servicing appointments, make parts inquiries, and locate MG dealerships near them using their smartphones. They can also use the app to book a visit from a Mobile Garage service caravan that provides MG owners with vehicle home service for major technical issues. MG HERO Services, on the other hand, provides 24/7 roadside support through the MG Philippines hotline (+632 5328 4664).

MGPhilippines signs on as the official mobility partner of the 30th SEA Games.

Awards, the Best Value for Money Compact Sedan of the Year (MG 6) for the 2019 Auto Focus People’s Choice Awards, and the 2019 Breakout Brand of the Year for the 2019 Top Gear PH Awards.
