DICT: IATF IDs still valid at checkpoints despite RapidPass launch

April 21,2020
MANILA, Philippines — The identification cards (IDs) issued by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases IDs will still be honored in checkpoints despite the implementation of a RapidPass system, the Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) said Tuesday.

“Notwithstanding the government’s transition from IATF-IDs to RapidPass, there is yet any issuance on the cancellation/revocation of IATF-IDs. As such, all checkpoint personnel should still honor all issued IATF-IDs,” DICT said in an advisory.

The IATF earlier issued IDs to frontliners during the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

Frontliners were also encouraged to apply for the RapidPass which aims to reduce contact in checkpoints.

“The DICT is encouraging all authorized frontliners and personnel to coordinate with their respective approving government agencies on how to apply for a RapidPass,” it said.

The government launched the RapidPass system to speed up inspection of vehicles and limit contact between personnel manning checkpoints and individuals exempted from the quarantine guidelines.

Exempted from work stoppage during the Luzon-wide lockdown are healthcare facilities, media, banks, money remittance centers. grocery stores / supermarkets,  public utilities, and businesses engaged the manufacturing and distribution of food, medical supplies and other essential products.
