MANILA, Philippines — A delivery service rider was arrested by police after he was caught delivering shabu (crystal meth) to a Chinese national in Makati City on Thursday morning.
Makati Police chief Col. Oscar Jacildo said Peter Symon Obusan, 38, was arrested along Nicanor Garcia Street in Barangay Bel-Air at 2:45 a.m.
The arrest came after officers of the Makati Police Station and Intelligence Section placed the suspect under surveillance.
Jacildo said Obusan, onboard his motorcycle, was in the area when policemen from Sub-Station 6 who were conducting an Oplan Sita flagged him. Police said Obusan tried to evade arrest but law enforcers managed to stop him. Authorities found that he was transporting shabu with an estimated value of P70,800.
Aside from the shabu, police also seized from Obusan a glass tube tooter; cash worth P550; a black sling bag; a cellphone; and a black motorcycle.
Police Major Gideon Ines Jr., chief of Makati Police Station’s Investigation Division, confirmed in a text message that Obusan was about to deliver the illegal drugs to a Chinese national when he was arrested. Ines said they are now conducting an investigation to identify the Chinese national.
Obusan is now detained at Makati Police Station as criminal complaints for violation of Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code (resistance and disobedience to a person in authority) and the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
