The Department of Transportation has tapped PayMaya to provide digital payments for taxi cabs and ridesharing vehicles, formally called Transport Network Vehicle Services (TNVS) in the country.
The move comes as strict quarantine measures to curb the spread of the new coronavirus disease are easing in several areas, including Metro Manila.
“Cashless payments, particularly in taxis and TNVS vehicles, [are] part of our new norm, and we are glad that our drivers and operators have easy and convenient options such as PayMaya so they can quickly implement this solution for the safety and benefit of their riders,” Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board chair Martin Delgra III said in a statement on Wednesday. —Miguel R.
