Singapore – At 1:30pm, regional contestant from Thailand, Mr Kanokphan Wathanakit-Anan gave in to exhaustion after clocking an impressive 66 hours and 36 minutes of standing time. Though having put up a good fight this year, the regional contestants did not outlast the seven Singaporeans who remain rooted in their place, their right palms refusing to leave their Subaru cars.
With the competition starting out with only 68 females, it proves that the females are just as formidable as males here in Singapore, seeing an even number of three women and three men left to battle it out against each other at 1:30pm.
Having watched their fellow competitors exit the competition one by one, loneliness is now part of the struggle that the remaining seven face. Having gone without sleep for 72 hours, the lack of human interaction and camaraderie is making it more challenging for the contestants to stay awake.
Only contestants at car number eight have the advantage of human company with three of their palms firmly pressed to it, while car numbers three, four, five, and seven have only one contestant hanging on.
The 1:00pm break time saw the fatigued seven commit to their usual routine of visiting the toilet, drinking and eating with as much strength and energy they could muster.
As the clock inches close to the 75-hour mark, it would only mean devastation and total exasperation for any of the remaining six to give up on a one out of sixth chance at winning the Subaru Impreza Challenge 2010.
