Want to spend a portion of that P720 million on something other than say, your own subdivision? How about taking part in the Ferrari 458 Challenge, a one-make series that features the eponymous road car. The 458 Italia will be the basis for the fifth such model in Ferrari’s one-make Challenges. The 485’s engine retains its output of 570 bhp at a screaming 9000 rpm. Modifications were made to the gearbox, to send more torque at lower revs. The car will also maintain its E-Diff electronic differential in a first for the company’s track-only cars.
The 458 Italia Challenge will be stripped of excess mass and will be fitted with lighter bodshell panels fashioned from carbon fiber. Suspension set-up will use steel uniball joints, stiffer springs, single-rate alloy dampers, centre-nut 19” forged rims, larger dimension Pirelli slicks and a ride height lowered by 50mm all round. The car will have Brembo’s awesome carbon ceramic brakes.
The car will have the company’s F1-Trac traction control which maximizes high-performance road-holding. For the 458 Challenge, it will have two track-biased calibrations. The famous steering-wheel manettino will thus have two positions with progressively higher levels of system intervention as well as an Off position with those who have unlimited insurance.
